I'm so sad it's over! Not your experience, but looking forward to reading your entries!!! And, I am going to admit something.... this is the first blog I've ever followed from start to finish. So that's something! It helped because I know you from so long ago, but mostly I love your writing, and I loved getting immersed in that stark, cold, ominously beautiful sounding world. I also have a thing for ice, and I don't know how long much of it is going to be around! Thanks Cree!!
What a story. Thanks a lot for all the great descriptors of your complex experience. It was something I looked forward to. You are a compelling narrator about such a rare & unique opportunity that had been a life dream. I loved it.
I've loved following your journey; I spent a summer in Alaska 20+ years ago and *so* feel this sentiment: "At the beginning I found the bright light cheerful but it has begun to wear me down with its insistence on daytime’s go-go-go energy. I’ve never really thought about nighttime as a potent force on my mood, but I feel it here as I try and fail to find somewhere to hide." So true. Thank you for sharing with us.
yeah, it's funny. while i was in it i thought i'd realy enjoy a bit of dark but there's freedom in that light, too. you can easily go for a run at 3 AM!
Thank you for sharing your journey.
I have so enjoyed your dispatches. Safe journey home.
You saved your very best sentence until now: “Other than seeing family, friends and my dog, I dream of darkness.” Welcome almost home,
